We’re so excited for April’s TrolleyNight featured artist: Hannah DeRossitt!
Hannah is an Arkansas raised, Memphis based visual artist. She has been working with charcoal from a young age and always had a love for abstract paintings. She has recently gotten back to her roots and combined her two passions to create large scale abstract works using charcoal on untreated canvas.
Hannah answered a few questions about her latest series:
What inspires you to create?
I get inspired to create by my surroundings and my passion for interior design. I always want unique pieces to elevate any space I spend my time in. This series is inspired by my new home; I wanted to create a modern, abstract and neutral space.
Describe your creative process.
My process to create these pieces was to just go with feeling and have no expectations of the outcome.
What do you want people to take away from your artwork?
I hope people take away that art can be anything that pulls you in or sparks any creativity in you.
